- Calgary's rental housing easier to find, still expensive - Calgary Herald
CALGARY - Renters are having an easier time finding a place to live, but the average rents in Calgary are still among the highest in Canada.
Calgary’s vacancy rate increased to 4.3 per cent in April from two per cent a year ago, according to the spring rental market survey by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
Rents, however, continued to increase in Calgary — although less than in previous years.
The average rent for a two-bedroom suite in new and existing structures was $1,106 this April, compared to $1,096 last spring.
The highest monthly rent was in Vancouver ($1,154), while Toronto ($1,093) was slightly lower than Calgary.
